Just as students do not wear the same size, style, and color of clothing, they also differ in the amount of educational time and support required to meet specific academic standards.
Strategies for differentiating instruction must be used if we are to meet the needs of each student as he/she progresses toward the standards.
Differentiated instruction is also the means for addressing the critical “reteaching” component of the learning cycle. Meeting those individual needs in a classroom of 20-30 students is the most difficult aspect of teaching.
Mayerson Academy currently offers three levels of courses in differentiated instruction.
- Level I covers the “nature” of differentiated instruction.
- Level II is designed for those who are familiar with differentiated instruction and are ready to move to more in- depth implementation.
- Level III involves in-classroom coaching in implementing differentiated instruction.
