Instructional Support Teams
Instructional Support Teams in the Cincinnati Public Schools provide support for principals and teachers as they work to get every child to meet or exceed the district's academic standards. This is best done through:
- establishing and articulating a strong core curriculum,
- developing and sustaining a cadre of leaders who demonstrate skill as instructional leaders, operational managers, and motivators of staff and students,
- actively recruiting and working intentionally to retain high quality teachers and staff,
- guiding and monitoring rigorous instruction, and
- allocating resources to support this system.
This support, while coordinated and monitored centrally, has maximum impact when delivered on-site at the school and classroom level, providing timely, relevant, job-embedded strategies for the ultimate purpose of change in teaching practice and increased student learning and achievement. Guided by research-proven goals and district initiatives, a consistent Instruction Support Team structure can be far-reaching and sustainable, and can provide district-wide calibration while at the same time allowing for the customization necessary in a large district.
