Dollar General Literacy Foundation

Mayerson Academy received a $3000 Back to School and Youth Literacy grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.  The award will be used to purchase webcams and instructional materials which will be used in the Tier II reading intervention program Mayerson Academy is piloting in three elementary schools – Cheviot, Midway, and Sayler Park.

Dater Foundation Supports Specialized Literacy Professional Development at Mayerson Academy

Up to 60 teachers from Cincinnati Public Schools and surrounding districts will participate in Orton Gillingham Multi-sensory reading instruction during June and July 2010. These teachers will receive in-classroom support through follow-up visits from master teachers during the 2010 year. Teachers who took the training in 2009 were very positive about receiving assistance once they returned to their classrooms. The Academy appreciates the continued support from the Dater Foundation which helps to make this training possible.
