Mayerson Academy’s Orton-Gillingham Online Practicum Exceeds Enrollment Projections

Orton-Gillingham OnlineThe new Orton-Gillingham online practicum from Mayerson Academy has attracted participants from all over the United States, and even one from Bogata, Columbia! Word-of-mouth testimonials about the quality of the program and the success of the first cohort of participants drove enrollment beyond projections. Registration is now open for an online course that will begin August 20. Interested participants should register early to assure a spot.

Kelly Stenger, an intervention specialist in Cincinnati Public Schools, is currently enrolled in Practicum II, and is on her way to becoming certified in multisensory structured language at the teaching level. Kelly says,

 I found the online course to be extremely user friendly and the supporting documents (videos, lectures, and attachments) to be easily accessible. I enjoyed the fact that I could work at my own pace and from the comfort of my own home!  All of the resources that are provided through the OG Connector have been a big help. I also like that I can go back into the OG course and pull up previous lectures to help remind myself of certain strategies. The feedback that I received from my master teacher was beyond helpful and the strategies that my master teacher provided helped to enhance my teaching. As an Intervention Specialist, I feel that I have finally found a wonderful reading program to implement with my struggling students. My students benefit from the systematic multisensory approaches that are evident throughout all of the Orton Gillingham lessons. My struggling students are excited about the lessons and it has helped them gain confidence with their reading.

The content and practicum requirements are identical to the Academy’s face-to-face program which is also accredited by the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council and was deemed “exemplary professional development” in the Ohio Department of Education’s Dyslexia Pilot.
