Mayerson Academy Consultant Receives Award from the Ohio Department of Education
On Friday, October 30, 2009, at the Ohio TESOL Conference, C. Edward Green, educational consultant in second language acquisition for the Academy, received an award from the Lau Resource Center in recognition for his work with the Cincinnati City School District. Ed Green has been working in consultative support with the Cincinnati district since August of 2006.
This recognition was specific to work in the design of systematic supports for English language learners; during its most recent site visit, the ODE determined that the district was fully compliant in the area of Title III services to limited English proficient students. A second area of recognition was for work in decreasing the achievement gap between limited English proficient (LEP) students and native English speakers as well as lowering dropout rates among LEP students. This work was done as a part of a two year research grant that Ed Green authored and administered for the district. For additional details, see the article specific to that research.
