Mayerson Academy’s booth at DyslexiaCon17, the International Dyslexia Association’s Reading, Literacy, and Learning Conference was crowded with educators
wanting to learn more about their Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Reading course – the only totally online course accredited by IDA. The January 2018 OG online course is filled, with a lengthy waiting list, but registrations are currently being taken for the August 2018 course.
The conference gave Mayerson Academy consultants the opportunity to meet in person several current and former students in our Online Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Reading Program.
Lisa Meyer recently completed her certification in Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Structured Language at the Practitioner Level through our program. She was thrilled to be able to meet program directors and instructors, Carol Duke, Margaret Ascolese, and Molly Fine. Lisa said,
I have been a reading specialist for 27 years. Out of all the classes I’ve taken over the years, this one had surpassed them all. It was very well done, and I feel equipped to help the lowest achieving readers more than I ever have before. Classroom teachers of my students are noticing an improvement in their students’ learning! My coach was always available, even though she lives across the country and travels a lot. She was very helpful and encouraging. My only regret is that this course didn’t come along years ago!
Mayerson Academy’s program received recognition at other IDA sessions, as well. The Academy’s OG Cards app which we developed for use in our courses was highlighted by Jennifer Topple in her session, Assistive Technology for a New Generation, and by Elaine Cheesman in her session, Mobile Apps to Enhance Structured Literacy.
