Some days we get it right, some days we don’t, but at Mayerson Academy we aim every day to act in ways that brings out the best in our work and our interactions with one another. Our intention it to keep our strengths, individually and collectively, front and center and to seek to express our co-created organizational values on a moment-to-moment basis. We continually seek new ways to operationalize this intention. One very tangible tool we use is a “Spot Award.”
The Spot Award uses an anonymous nomination form for colleagues to acknowledge efforts that go “above and beyond” and represent the best of an individual’s strengths and our organizational values. We celebrate this recognition with a brief standing meeting, during which the nomination form is read aloud and a gift card is awarded. There are many times that I enjoy being and working with our team, but these moments are certainly at the top of the list. To see the delight and appreciation on everyone’s (not just the recipient’s) face is truly special.
I am very pleased to share the excerpt below from a recent spot award as celebration of Carol Yetter’s work. Beautiful work, Carol!
