Social emotional learning requires students to be conscious of their own emotions and social interactions. But teachers also have to be healthy and conscious of SEL if they are to support students in their own social and emotional development.
“The nature of relationships among the adults within a school has a greater influence on the character and quality of that school and on student accomplishment than anything else.” Roland Barth
At Mayerson Academy we seek to “WOW” every day and part of that mission involves making it possible for others to give the best of themselves. We have proposed a workshop for the 2016 SxSW Edu Conference called “Character Strengths and the Heart of Learning” to bring a snapshot of our Thriving Teacher work to the SxSW Edu community.
SxSW Edu is an education-specific conference held the week prior to the big SxSW Interactive Conference in Austin, TX. It attracts thought leaders from all over the world to talk innovation in education. All SxSW conferences are crowd-sourced to select the most compelling content. Votes are one important measure of who ends up presenting – so all votes are very important to the selection process. Please take a few moments to register on the site and consider voting for our workshop, and bringing this energizing program, to SxSW Edu today! Here are the steps:
