Work is demanding.
In a world that is constantly in motion, “9 to 5” is a relic of the past. In fact, only 8% of full-time employees claim to work less than 40 hours with a nearly 40% working 50 hours or more.
Work environment matters.
Given the time spent there, our workplace environment matters. Studies have shown that organizational culture has a direct impact on a worker’s productivity, reducing absenteeism and dramatically improving morale.
It ripples.
But, actually, there is more at stake. What we experience at work shapes the mindset, attitude and mood we carry to our friends and families and contributes to what they take into the world. The ripple effect is huge.
Our take on it.
In the last several months the colleagues in our organization have collectively aimed to be very intentional about our work place environment and culture. A central aspect in this effort came with naming a brief but, we think, powerful list of organizational values.
Our aim is to live these values daily on a personal level while supporting and challenging one another to do the same. We embed them in our processes, our conversations, our objectives. We aren’t perfect but we are making strides.
We are celebrating!
Because it is so important to us, we are delighted to be celebrating the recent announcement that Mayerson Academy is a finalist for the Cincinnati Business Courier’s 2015 Best Places to Work competition! We will always continue to seek “new and better” ways to create the workplace we want, but we are delighted to have this positive indicator of the value of what we are creating together.
